The Hamilton County Recycling and Solid Waste District (District) is a County organization, established by State law, responsible for ensuring that the County achieves State mandated goals for recycling and waste reduction. The District achieves these goals through the implementation of waste reduction programs targeted to residents, communities, businesses, and schools.
State law requires the formation of a local Solid Waste Management District Policy Committee to oversee the writing and implementation of the District’s Solid Waste Plan.

Solid Waste Management Plan
The District is required to develop a 15-year solid waste management plan to determine the solid waste management needs of the County and to provide an agenda for implementing programs to meet those needs. The current plan covers a planning period from 2006 through 2021. As required by State law, the plan will undergo a complete update every five years.
